the heart of toronto

Populated daily by lawyers, financial advisers and many other “movers and shakers” that give Bay street it’s Wall street-esque feel, The Financial District is the in heart of downtown Toronto.

Here at Atlas, we’ve loved our recent transition into the Financial District, and we’d encourage any business to make the move! Here are 10 things that inevitably happen when you work in The Financial District.

#1. You’re always coming home with a few extra shopping bags

When lunchtime rolls around in the FiDi and you’re at a loss of how to spend your time, it’s easy to end up at the Eaton Centre. But a leisurely stroll through the mall can quickly turn into a race. At Atlas, we like to call it the “how many stores can I visit in an hour” challenge.

But, as they say, challenges aren’t meant to scare you – they’re meant to strengthen you… right?

#2. The lunch possibilities are endless

There are no limits when it comes to food in the FiDi; whether you’ve got a craving for a burger or a fancy sit-down lunch meeting, there’s surely something you’ll want to try.

#3. …But the food is expensive as hell

Pro tip: It’s probably safer to get in the habit of packing a lunch.

#4. You’ll probably get lost in the PATH once or twice

Rain. Hail. Snow. Whatever the weather, fear not! If the great outdoors aren’t cooperating with your daily commute, the Toronto underground PATH is an amazing alternative.

That said, if it’s your first time taking the PATH, we recommend giving yourself a few extra minutes. Chances are, you will get lost at least once.

#5. Yes, we have ran into a member of Dragon’s Den

And it was the coolest thing ever.

#6. You always feel under dressed

Business fashion on Bay street is no joke. If you want to fit in, you’ve got to bring your A-game (and leave the re-usable Lululemon lunch bag at home).

#7. You start to feel religious about your favourite coffee shop

Whether you prefer a classic staple like Tim Horton’s or Starbucks, or a specialty shop like Boxcar Social, you get intensely protective about your favourite cup of coffee.

#8. You start to feel like the center of the universe

When literally everything is at your fingertips, it gets harder and harder to leave.

#9. You’re always looking up

While the FiDi is an inspiring location, we mean this point very literally. When you’re constantly surrounded by high heels, tall business people and 30-story buildings, you are always. looking. up.

#10. You get really excited for that 6-minute window when the sun actually shines into your office

With so many tall buildings surrounding your office, there are only a few moments a day when the sun is at that perfect angle to shine in.

You will undoubtedly treasure these moments.

The hustle-and-bustle of this beautiful area is both evident and inspiring—especially watching people do it confidently in high heels. And while you may come home with one too many shopping bags and a long list of “must-try” restaurants, Toronto’s Financial District is an excellent place to let your business flourish!

"Our company is very new to social media with no experience or expertise. We initially approached Atlas Communications for out-sourcing our social media needs. As we progressed in our social media plans we decided it would be best to hire in-house. Atlas was flexible and worked with us to customize our needs. They provided ongoing consulting and training for our social media staff and market team. They were extremely patient with our embarrassingly little of knowledge of social media. We are grateful for their help, knowledge, flexibility and supportive attitude. A welcome find in the vast sea of social media blur. "
