True North Strong And Free

Canada is an amazing country that we’re proud to live in – and is also a place where you will never run out of things to do! As for us at Atlas, we’re so excited to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday this summer, and we hope you are too. While Toronto is always fantastic in the summer, there’s even more happening in the city to celebrate Canada’s big day.

With all of the celebrating going on in the GTA, it can be hard to decide what to do. But don’t worry – the Atlas team has you covered! We’ve rounded up the top 5 BEST things to do in and around Toronto to celebrate and show Canada just how much you love our country!

Toronto Festival of Beer

We couldn’t celebrate Canada’s birthday without a cold one, now could we? Head to the Toronto Festival of Beer (TFOB) at Bandshell Park in Exhibition place for delicious beers from all across Canada. The TFOB starts on July 28th and ends on the 30th.

National Aboriginal Day & Indigenous Arts Week

Celebrate National Aboriginal Day on Wednesday, June 21st at Fork York and continue the celebration all the way until Sunday, June 25th for Indigenous Arts Week. Enjoy traditional and contemporary music, storytelling, dancing and delicious food under the open skies in downtown Toronto.

Parks Canada Discovery Pass

Take a day trip to one of the many beautiful parks in the GTA with the Parks Canada Discovery Pass – free this year in celebration of Canada’s birthday! Ontario has over 20 national parks, marine conservatories, and heritage sites, and there’s even 3 within an-hour-and-a-half of Toronto! To see the closest park to you, check out Park Canada’s interactive map.

The Toronto Pride Parade

Easily one of the highlights of summer, this year’s pride parade falls right before Canada’s 150th Birthday. The Parade starts at 2 p.m. July 25th at Bloor and Church Streets and ends at Yonge and Dundas Square. Come out,  watch the parade and get ready for the party afterward!

Canada Days with the City of Toronto

The City of Toronto really went all out this year for Canada’s 150! “Canada Days,” are a celebration of live music, food, and culture at four different Toronto locations, spanning over 3 days.

The four locations are Mel Lastman Square, Humber Bay Park West, Scarborough Civic Centre, and Nathan Phillips Square! Headliners include all-Canadian talents Basia Bulat, Bare Naked Ladies, Born Ruffians, and Belly. Click here to see the full line up.

It looks like we’re going to have a busy summer. Happy 150th birthday, Canada!

"Working with Atlas Communications has been one of my highlights of 2016. Hiring them has not only been beneficial for our company but for me as a start-up entrepreneur. Having them take the lead for LiveAbstract social media has greatly increased our presence and impact on both our platforms. I would highly recommend them to any company for your digital marketing needs. Thanks Atlas looking forward to continue working together in the future.”

"Our company is very new to social media with no experience or expertise. We initially approached Atlas Communications for out-sourcing our social media needs. As we progressed in our social media plans we decided it would be best to hire in-house. Atlas was flexible and worked with us to customize our needs. They provided ongoing consulting and training for our social media staff and market team. They were extremely patient with our embarrassingly little of knowledge of social media. We are grateful for their help, knowledge, flexibility and supportive attitude. A welcome find in the vast sea of social media blur. "
