Jasmine Pickel | Owner, CEO

Jasmine Pickel is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer at Atlas Communications. She holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa, and is an MBA candidate at the prestigious Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Following her undergrad, Jasmine launched a successful career in communications spanning the Federal Public Service, the Private Sector, and Parliament Hill. The abilities she acquired working in the House of Commons especially equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as an innovative marketer and entrepreneur.

At the age of 23, Jasmine co-founded an Ottawa-based social media and writing company. With a commitment to personal growth and a passion for entrepreneurialism, she became a member of the Women’s Business Network of Ottawa. She also joined a political Federal Electoral District Association for Ottawa – Vanier where she was quickly elected Chair of the Fundraising Committee.

Noting a burgeoning business landscape and with a desire to be closer to family, Jasmine set her sights on Canada’s largest city. She successfully transitioned her first business and moved to Toronto in 2014 founding Atlas Communications. Today, Jasmine is very proud to head one of the fastest-growing, leading-edge agencies of its kind in Toronto.



Rachel Surman | Atlas Ambassador/Account Executive

Rachel Surman is the Creative Director at Atlas Communications. She holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree from the prestigious Journalism program at Ryerson University in the heart of downtown Toronto.

A talented writer with a strong journalistic background, Rachel was a natural fit for the role of Creative Director at Atlas. Drawing on her unique story-telling abilities and creativity, she crafts compelling, original content that captures attention and makes an impact.

Rachel’s impressive track record and diverse work experiences have allowed her to excel in her current role at Atlas. Before graduating, she took on the prestigious role of Chief News Editor at The Ryersonian which unleashed her true passion for communications.   From there, she gained invaluable work experience at such notable publications as The Grid, The Canadian Press, and The National Post.

Rachel is an avid runner, reader, biker, blogger, and photographer. If she’s not at Atlas, you can find her training for her next half marathon, exploring Toronto’s community flea markets, or in a coffee shop quietly blogging away. Rachel is passionate about her work for Atlas Communications and strives to go above and beyond for every client.

 


Shelby Andrews | Marketing Manager

Shelby Andrews is the Marketing and Communications Strategist at Atlas Communications. She is a University of Guelph-Humber graduate who holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Arts in Media Studies and a Diploma in Media Communications with a specialization in public relations. Shelby is a communications expert, a public relations professional and has spent years crafting her writing skills.

Enthralled by the digital sphere, Shelby has spent time mastering the social media world. As communication technology continues to grow and evolve, Shelby has a knack for staying on top of digital trends.

Shelby is a tea devotee, lover of all things candle, and gentle cat mom her to adopted felines, Bean and Smoak. She loves to run, read and sharpen her unique set of photography skills.

 

Vanessa Bride | Account Representative

Vanessa Bride holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Arts in Media Studies and a Diploma in Media Communications at the University of Guelph-Humber. As a creative thinker, a talented writer and marketing expert, Vanessa is constantly thinking outside the box and exceeding client expectations.

When she’s not writing, or checking social media feeds, Vanessa can often be found taking a hot yoga class, going for a bike ride or on her way to a dance class. She is a devoted coffee lover, long time vegetarian and dedicated music collector.

 

Grace Mahas | Account Representative

Grace is working towards a Digital Enterprise Management degree with a minor in French at the University of Toronto, Mississauga and a Digital Communications diploma at Sheridan College.  Her diverse skills include online marketing, brand reputation management, Search Engine Optimization, website development and content creation (among others).

Grace has played a key role in coding and creating content for several websites, making her a master of the digital world! She stays up to date on emerging digital trends and understands many of the pivotal technical aspects of online marketing.

Grace has a keen interest in fashion, often dubbed “the backseat shopper” and never turns down an invitation to go shopping! You can also find Grace at the gym, trying out the newest fitness plan (in her even newer sneakers).

 

Lucy Qiu | Social Media Intern

Lucy is the newest addition to the Atlas Team! Her studies focus on business with a specialization in marketing. She joined the team in 2016 to build on her social media skills and to gain new experiences through exposure to the latest digital marketing trends.

Outside of Atlas, Lucy is extremely creative, and expands on this by doing the things she loves most: reading, writing and drawing. When she’s not at the office, you’ll find her at the nearest bookshop, checking out a new hiking trail or practicing one of her favourite sports!
